Good morning Tuesday child, you dream comes trues-day child.

It’s May 17, and composer Erik Satie was born this day in 1866.

On this day in 1824, six friends of Lord Byron, who had died some weeks earlier, fearing for his reputation, gathered to burn his supposedly salacious unpublished memoir in what has been called the greatest literary crime ever.

On this day in 1875, the first Kentucky Derby was held. Aristides won, ridden by African-American jockey Oliver Lewis.

The Spinners’ Pervis Jackson was born this day in 1938,

and Bobby Sheen was born this day in 1941.

Taj Mahal was born this day in 1942,

and Jesse Winchester was born this day in 1944. Clap on it!

Camel’s Andrew Latimer was born this day in 1949, and he is the one in this clip brave enough to wear his own band’s t-shirt on stage. Hard to believe no one in the band stopped him.

Catherine Howe was born this day in 1950. She is widely considered a great unknown talent. Well, I guess not THAT widely considered, or she’d be bigger.

George Johnson of the mighty Brothers Johnson was born this day in 1953,

and finally, Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme was born this day in 1973.

Have a great day. Take time to hear a little music. Hope to see you tomorrow.
