Good morning to all! It’s May 18, and Montreal was founded on this day in 1642. Montreal is nice in May.

One-hit-wonder Verdelle Smith was born this day in 1921,

and Kai Winding was born this day in 1922. This was the first recording of “Time is On My Side.”

Gary S. Paxton was born this day in 1939. He is best known for producing the novelty songs “Alley Oop” by the Hollywood Argyles and “Monster Mash” for Bobby “Boris” Pickett. I don’t know what to make of this song. Maybe you do.

Doris Duke (the singer, not the richest girl in the world) was born this day in 1941. She is one of those artists who would have been huge if talent had anything to do with it. But it doesn’t!

Albert Hammond was born this day in 1944,

and Rick Wakeman was born this day in 1949.

Devo’s Mark Mothersbaugh was born this day in 1950,

and Wreckless Eric was born this day in 1954. Here he is making fun of THE MAN, who is looking for “Just a two minute song/a snazzy middle eight.”

Toyah Wilcox was born this day in 1958. She is married to Robert Fripp, and they have this really weird and sometimes entertaining YouTube show called “Toyah and Robert’s Sunday Lunch” where they cover various songs from their home.

And finally, it’s National No Dirty Dishes Day.

Have a great day. Take time to hear a little music. Hope to see you tomorrow.
